Canadian curlers Team Flaxey have been crowned winners in the second annual City of Perth Ladies International Championship.
The foursome made up of Allison Flaxey, Clancy Grandy, Lynn Kreviazuk and Morgan Court took on Swiss Team Tirinzoni in the final, which was forced to a deciding end after the sides tied at 3-3.
Skip Flaxey then had a great double take-out with a perfectly weighted final stone in the ninth end to seal the victory.
Flaxey said: “We are so happy to have won this event, I mean this is the home of Curling so it’s so wonderful to win a bonspiel. International travel for us has been tough and so coming into this event we really wanted to focus on having a good week and this game was just indicative of that.
“We’ve worked really hard these last nine weeks we’ve had off, so to come out here and play well and Silvana played well too and you get left a shot at the end to win it and we made it so we’re excited.
“We knew it would be close. There is wonderful competition when we play against Tirinzoni. We’ve played them a few times and lost to them in a final earlier this year, but we just knew if we could keep the game close and just have that shot to win then we would try and make it.”
