‘Remains’ found near stately home in East Lothian

REMAINS have been found near Gosford House in Longniddry, East Lothian.

Police have closed the A198 in Longniddry following the discovery that was made at 6:30pm on Sunday evening.

It is not yet clear if the remains are human.

Police Scotland confirmed that inquiries are ongoing and said: “Police in East Lothian are investigating following the discovery of remains around 6:30pm on Sunday.

“Officers were alerted after a member of the public made the find in an area off the A198, near to the entrance of Gosford House.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the origin and nature of these items.”
