World’s largest trampoline park opens in Glasgow

By Gillian McPherson

Glaswegians now have the chance to bounce themselves fit after the biggest trampolining park in the world finally opened its doors in the city.

Flip Out is a 63,000 sq ft paradise of trampolines in Rutherglen and also boasts a soft play area, kids flip street arena – and even a ninja warrior course with a laser maze and a bungee run.

A VIP preview party was held to mark the launch with spectacular displays from Scotland’s top parkour and trampoline athletes, including Katie Gallacher, the current Scottish Ladies Trampolining champion.

She said: “I think it’s an amazing place to have opened in Glasgow. Somewhere which can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Families can go and everyone can participate.

“I think it will give trampolining a massive boost. After visiting a trampoline park many children want to continue trampolining, which means trampolining clubs across the country are gaining more members, which is making the popularity of the sport grow and grow.”

Flip Out began in Australia five years ago and there are now 13 parks around the UK, with another six in the pipeline.

And like the company’s founders, who advocate the health benefits of the sport, Katie said there is more to gain from trampolining than just having a good time.

Katie added: “It’s not only so much fun but it’s an amazing way to get into shape and keep fit. Burning up to 800 calories an hour.

“Some people think that trampolining is just something you do in your back garden and not in fact an Olympic sport, so having these parks open across the country is giving more people an insight into what trampolining really is all about.”
