Hamilton Accies winger Imrie up for relegation dogfight

By Calum Woodger

Hamilton Accies forward Dougie Imrie insists he and his teammates are ready to fight for their league status ahead of their match with rivals Dundee.

Speaking in the wake of a 1-1 draw with Ross County in which defender Giannis Skondras was sent off, Imrie said: “The decisions today went against us but we just pick ourselves up. We dug in. Two games in a row we’ve been down to ten men and the effort the boys have put in is magnificent.

“That’s what we’ve got to do from now till the end of the season to get us to safety and stay in the league for another year.”

The winger believes the mental boost of moving above Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell in the table will help them in the run-in.

He said: “We’ve got Dundee on Saturday which will be another massive game. They’re in the same predicament as us, as are all the teams round about us, so it’s going to be who wants it more in the last remaining six games.”
