A strike at the Faslane and Coulport naval bases has been called off following successful talks between naval management and unions.
Members of the Unite union began industrial action on March 24 following claims employer Babcock Marine had campaigned to undermine worker’s rights and outsource work.
However, compromise has been agreed at a meeting in London between Unite’s general secretary Len McCluskey and senior executives from Babcock Marine.
Mr McCluskey said that the talks with Babcock Marine led to an accord after both the union and the management acknowledged a “breakdown in the relationship”.
He said: “We had constructed talks with Babcock Marine executives and are pleased that we have come to this accord.
“Without the goodwill, hard work and determination of the workers on the ground, no company can be a success.
“And the best employers are the ones who see workers and unions as partners for progress.”
